Plague Day

This week, on the 25th of September, the 7th grade became infected with the Bubonic Plague. What is this plague you ask? The Bubonic Plague-also known as the Black Plague- was a fatal plague that infected the people of the 14th century. It was estimated to have killed anywhere from 75 to 200 million people as it swept across Europe. Then, it came to Salisbury. In honor of learning about the horrors that came with this plague, kids in seventh grade joined those unfortunate souls. Throughout the day, students had the chance to go to Mr. Tobias’s room if they received the plague invitation to get makeup on their face to look infected. Symptoms that came with the plague were burst blood vessels, which gave the skin a black illusion, and blood being thrown up, so blood dripping from the mouth. It typically took a few days for you to fully succumb to the dreadful symptoms of the plague, but, you could have been that lucky soul that was killed in 24 hours. Let’s hope that everyone was healed fully, or else you could be next!
