8th Grade Field Trip

The 8th grade took a field trip to historic Philadelphia. It took place on the 6th of October. Students received a tour around Philadelphia, and visited important landmarks in history including Betsy Ross’s house and the first national bank. This particular tour was tied to the book the 8th graders read during school, which was Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson. Every famous monument the students stopped at, the tour guide would explain how this was significant to the yellow fever epidemic in 1793 as well as who fled and who stayed to help the sick. The students were separated into three groups to tour Philly based on their last name. Some of the sites and structures the 8th graders visited included the Liberty Bell, Benjamin Franklin’s house, and finally Independence Hall. It’s always beneficial and enjoyable when students can connect their learning with an out of school experience!
