In 7th ELA the students created poetry booklets. Each day for about a week the students would be assigned a poem to write by Mrs. Prokesch. In all, the students ended up with 9 poems for their booklet. Many students enjoyed making the poems and the booklet. Please enjoy the sampling of poems attached.

Dereck Temlin–Echo Poem
“Follow Your Path”
Make sure to follow your path
Follow your path if there is nowhere to go
where to go is your time to show
time to show is your time to glow
time to glow to be the light way in your path
in your path, there is only one test
only one test you have to be the best
Be the best of the rest
of the rest, we don’t cause a wrath
cause wrath you might not follow your path.
Mikayla Seidel–Echo Poem
She went shopping at the mall
At the mall she bought clothes
She bought clothes that made her happy
Made her happy it did indeed
It did indeed help her self image
Her self image was finally good enough
Finally good enough it was
Enough it was to convince her friends
Convince her friends that she was
that she was beautiful inside and out
Inside and out she loved herself
She loved herself thanks to her shopping
To her shopping at the mall
Elena Miranda–Sensory Poem
Depression is deep blue
It smells like a cold, hard rain on your skin
It tastes like blood in your mouth
It sounds like echoing voices that tell you your aren’t good enough
It feels like you’re drowning but there’s no water
It looks like a tunnel with no light at the end
Depression is having weights shackled to your limbs and mind for eternity
Kali Borger–Blackout Poem
I ache, Mother, I ache.
I’ll die, I bet.
Mother and Father drop down, frightened.
I did die; my heart had been deep where water drowns me.
Gavin Cerco–Echo Poem
Snow starts melting fast
Starts melting fast due to fire Due to fire, the snow is gone Snow is gone after the fire burned long. Fire burned long after being fed. After being fed the wood and oil. Wood and oil ignited the flames. Ignited the flames that destroyed the snow. Destroyed the snow and made the wintery night disappear. Wintery night disappeared and made many children disappointed. Many children disappointed when there was no snow the next day. The next day the snow was gone and happiness was lost. |
